  • Pebbledash slowly and consistently falling apart
  • Visible cracks and peeling paint
  • Penetrating damp within your brick or stone work

If you too experience on any of the problems mentioned above, Jag Wall Coatings has a service for you.

Below are a number of reasons why our customers choose to use our Exterior Wall Rendering services

If you have a traditional sand and cement render on your home, you’ve likely noticed that after a few years it can begin to crumble. Cracks can also appear as damp gathers behind the rendered surface. Over time, the original stone or brickwork of the property will become exposed which can lead to further issues with penetrating damp. Keep your home protected by contacting an expert as soon as you notice any damage to the exterior of your home. When getting it repaired, make sure the entire property is examined so that no brick or stone is left exposed.

Unfortunately, cracks appearing in pebbledash and stones slowly coming loose is a common problem. If you’ve fallen out of love with the pebbledash finish on your property due to constantly clearing up debris, it might be time for a repair or replacement.

We offer two preliminary services to anyone facing difficulty with their pebbledash property, which are:

Option 1 – Bagging and Wall Coating

We create a slurry mix which is then spread across the walls, covering any existing pebbledash and evening the surface out in preparation for a wall coating to be applied. This is typically the fastest and cheapest way to stabilise your pebbledash home. Once the slurry mix has set you can select your own finish which we can then apply.

Option 2 – Two Coat Polymer Render and Wall Coating

Instead of a slurry mix, the first layer is added alongside a mesh to effectively stabilise the wall. We then apply a secondary layer which covers the first one, so the mesh is no longer visible. This leaves a completely smooth surface that is ready for the final coating. Again, you can select your own finish which a member of team will be happy to apply for you.

Walls that have been rendered are then typically painted with a standard masonry paint. This paint will only last a few years before it begins to flake from the property, leaving behind an array of unattractive ‘bold spots’. We offer a variety of services to help a home with visible cracks or peeling paint, with our most popular being a patch and repair option in which we examine the property to find all loose paint and render. We then replace all of these areas to ensure that the surface is ready for a final coating.

If moisture has made its way through the stone or brickwork on your property, you may have noticed any (or all) of the following:

  • Wet Rot
  • Mould growth
  • Plasterwork becoming damp
  • A damp odour
  • Visible water damage
  • Rooms feeling cold and uninhabitable

Here at JAG, we can help to prevent penetrating damp before it becomes a major issue. We do this by repairing any cracks within the walls of your property, removing contaminated debris and applying wall coatings. All of these methods are highly effective and have been approved by industry leaders.

A great way of improving the value of your home and increasing the sales appeal is to either update or transform the exterior walls with render. We regularly receive enquiries from people with traditional brick properties and existing render properties that simply require an update. Sometimes these properties have other issues such as cracks, blemishes and damp, but occasionally all the client wants is to improve the exterior aesthetics of their home. Rendering and Coating the walls will create that “wow” factor and will certainly increase the value of the house.

Approved Wethertex Installer

Here at JAG, we use a widely recommended GRC Polymer render which is reinforced with glass, giving it maximum durability and protection from the elements. We choose a GRC render known as Wethertex – it allows us to support local businesses while also offering a very reliable product at a cost-effective price. This render lasts much longer than traditional sand and cement render and is virtually crack free. It can also be applied to virtually any surface, including brickwork, concrete blocks and even insulation boards. Our team of professionals can take care of everything, from the initial preparation of the wall to manually applying the render and finishing coats.

Wethertex GRC Polymer Render vs Traditional Sand and Cement

At JAG we choose to you use Wethertex GRC Polymer Renders rather than traditional Sand and Cement. The main reasons for this are GRC or Glass Reinforced Concrete Renders contain fibres and are designed to cope with all types of substrates while giving greater adhesion, meaning they last longer and are less likely to fail. They are extremely flexible and are virtually crack free.

In addition to this, traditional Sand and Cement renders are usually applied 10-15mm in thickness. They take a lot of time to be applied and generally will crack over time. They are usually painted and over time the paint will peel resulting in you constantly having to re-paint the surfaces to look like new.
